Creator subscription platform Patreon is laying off 93 employees, accounting for 20% of its workforce. CEO Jack Conte stated that while the core business remains healthy, the company is flattening its organizational structure to adapt faster to changes.

Regarding AI's impact, Conte emphasized that the layoffs are not because AI replaces human creativity. However, he acknowledged that AI has fundamentally transformed the tech industry, including how Patreon builds products, communicates, and operates. Recently, Patreon also partnered with Cloudflare to block AI crawlers from stealing creators' content at the network level.
