Chinese open-source models may be reinforcing NVIDIA’s inference moat

Chinese open-source models may end up strengthening NVIDIA’s moat, the post argues, because many are trained on NVIDIA GPUs and then released in forms that are still best served by NVIDIA for inference. That gives NVIDIA an advantage not only in training, but also in the inference market, while supporting neoclouds built on NVIDIA hardware.
The thread’s bigger implication is that China’s open-source momentum helps NVIDIA today — but that dependence could become a strategic risk for NVIDIA if Chinese labs no longer need its GPUs.
