U.S. House bill would let DHS order dangerous AI models shut down

A bipartisan House bill, the “AI Kill Switch Act,” would give the Department of Homeland Security authority to order top AI firms to shut down or slow models the government deems too dangerous.

According to legislative text first viewed by POLITICO, the proposal would also require companies to report incidents and build the technical ability to shut down, throttle, or suspend powerful AI systems.
