Open-source Aster proposes cost-staged verification for LLM code review

Aster is an open-source code-review harness for LLM-assisted review, presented in a working paper on “Decoupling Recall and Precision in LLM Code Review”.
The paper frames its main idea as cost-staged adversarial verification: use a concrete mechanism and measurable protocol to separate recall from precision in automated review. It says the authors are building from the practitioner side, with design choices made for real pull-request review rather than abstract first-principles claims. It also mentions that head-to-head comparisons with other review tools are being evaluated on a public, deliberately vulnerable benchmark, with full results to come when that evaluation finishes.
