AI agent allegedly found a refutation of a 30-year-old graph theory conjecture in Slack
A quoted post says Capy “accidentally” cracked Graph Theory Conjecture 284 inside Slack, using Grok 4.5 Medium, and produced a novel refutation in 8 minutes.
A follow-up from ChrSzegedy adds important context: the GRAFFITI conjectures were essentially pre-AI generated statements from the 1990s, many of which had not been worked on because they were too isolated from the rest of mathematics.
