At a Shanghai hands-on event, Samsung highlighted the Galaxy Z Fold8 series’ new wider foldable shape, thinner bodies, upgraded durability, and a heavier AI push.
- The standard Fold8 adopts a more “content-native” aspect ratio, while the Ultra continues the horizontal large-fold format.
- Samsung says the new materials and titanium support layer improve durability by 17%, with peak brightness up to 3000 nits and higher pixel density on the Ultra.
- The AI pitch centers on more proactive, ambient assistance: improved Circle to Search, smarter search suggestions, unified content collection across apps, call-aware prompts, personalized briefs, and stronger video subject tracking for auto-edited vertical clips.
- The Fold8 line is said to have 94% support among the top 200 apps, and Samsung also teased AI upgrades for Galaxy Watch8.
