Claude Code works with local Gemma via llama.cpp, but server-side web search is missing
Fun_Tangerine_1086 · reddit · 2026-07-23
A user describes running Claude Code against a local llama.cpp server with Google's Gemma 26B MoE models and says it works reasonably well for easy boilerplate, glue code, and some PR review.
The remaining question is practical: Claude Code expects server-side tools, especially web search. The user asks whether there is a way to plug web search into the server side today, or whether any PRs/forks already add that support.
