Travis Kalanick’s Atoms robotics and industrial-automation company has reportedly raised $1.7 billion in a round led by a16z, with participation from Bain Capital, Fifth Wall and Uber.
The company is a rebrand of Kalanick’s CloudKitchens holding structure, built around the Pronto acquisition. Ben Horowitz is set to join the board. Kalanick says the goal is to build “atoms-based computers” that digitize the physical world across robotics, manufacturing and mining.
