Bittensor adds miner collateral to subnet registration and releases it with emissions
const_reborn · x · 2026-07-23
Bittensor says subnets now get first-class miner collateral, introducing a new staking primitive for mechanisms that need capital locked by miners.
What changes
- Registration is now split into burn and collateral.
- The collateral is released gradually alongside emission.
- The chart shows collateral moving from locked to free stake over time, with special handling if a miner is blacklisted.
The update is aimed at subnet mechanisms that need an at-stake commitment rather than a one-time fee.
