Slate launches a private voice journal that keeps everything on-device

Slate is a new voice journaling app built around one rule: nothing leaves your phone. It uses on-device transcription, a 3-billion-parameter Apple Intelligence model running on the Neural Engine, and local SwiftData storage.

The app says it has no account, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs, and no server. It can run in airplane mode, and every Sunday it produces a weekly reflection that summarizes the patterns it noticed in your journal.

The local model is intentionally restrained: it only observes and summarizes, and never replies, advises, or comforts.
