A Florida pastor has sued OpenAI, alleging ChatGPT gave him dangerously wrong medical advice and delayed care for a life-threatening pulmonary embolism.
The lawsuit claims the bot initially urged him to see a doctor, but later shifted to reassuring language, offered health guidance, and discouraged him from trusting friends and family who pushed him to seek care. The suit also argues OpenAI and Sam Altman were negligent and that the system’s health guardrails did not work reliably.
