In a long essay titled "AI and the Future of Cybersecurity: Why Openness Matters," Hugging Face's Clement Delangue, Yacine Jernite, and Mina Mitchell argue that openness gives defenders four things they need to stay ahead:
- Visibility into what systems are doing
- Control over deployment and inspection
- Community for shared scrutiny and response
- Shared infrastructure that improves defense faster
