U.S. official accuses Moonshot AI of distilling Anthropic’s Fable for K3
A screenshot of a post by Director Michael Kratsios says the U.S. has information that Moonshot AI distilled Anthropic’s Fable for its K3 model. The post claims Moonshot built an internal platform to run large-scale distillation against U.S. models while switching access methods to avoid detection, and also says the company bought GB300-equipped servers and accessed GB300s in Thailand, likely for model training.
The statement adds a broader policy argument: the U.S. supports legitimate model distillation and open innovation, but covert industrial-scale distillation aimed at stealing proprietary U.S. technology is unacceptable.
