Scott Belsky describes a playbook that is becoming increasingly common: build proprietary workflow-graph interfaces for specific verticals, then layer them on top of routers that can switch between competing, increasingly interchangeable models.
The implication is that value may move away from raw model access and toward the workflow and orchestration layer that sits above it.
