BMW is building humanoid robot software for car-part manufacturing
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-07-22
BMW says its Landshut plant is building software for humanoid robots tailored to automotive component manufacturing.
What BMW is doing
- Moving beyond simply deploying hardware pilots such as Hexagon AEON in Leipzig and Figure F.03 in Spartanburg.
- Developing a software stack that combines traditional controls, VLA models, real production data loops, simulation, and demonstration-based learning.
- Using motion capture, gloves, and cameras to teach robots fine motor tasks such as precise gripping and object understanding.
The goal is to make humanoid robots perceive, decide, and integrate smoothly into existing production lines for flexible component work.
