AI startup Arcee AI announced a partnership with the US Department of Energy (DOE) to develop Genesis-Science-1 (GS1), an open-weight AI model designed specifically for scientific research.
The model aims to complete scientific computing workflows while preserving a reproducible record of its work. The DOE is launching a contributor program inviting researchers, laboratories, universities, companies, and nonprofits to help shape the model. They are also actively speaking with infrastructure partners to expand training and evaluation capacity.
