US DOE Partners with Arcee.ai to Build Trillion-Parameter Open Science Model
latkins · x · 2026-07-22
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the Genesis Mission, an initiative to build GS1 (Genesis-Science-1), a trillion-parameter-class model designed to accelerate high-difficulty scientific workflows.
Developed in collaboration with AI company Arcee.ai, the model will be initialized from Arcee's next-generation Trinity models. The DOE emphasized that GS1 will ultimately be released as open weights. They have opened an application portal for institutions, nonprofits, and companies to contribute niche data sources or participate in evaluations.
