Off-balance-sheet commitments at Big Tech have jumped to about $1.65T
A chart from Nikkei Research shows off-balance-sheet future obligations at Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Oracle rising 700% in four years to a record $1.65 trillion.
- These are future spending commitments for AI infrastructure, data centers, equipment and long-term leases disclosed in filings.
- The figure already exceeds the $1.35 trillion in on-balance-sheet debt held by the same five companies.
- Meta has about $420B in hidden obligations, nearly 3× its recorded debt.
- Oracle has seen the biggest jump, up 2,900%+ to $273.3B, largely tied to its Stargate data center project with OpenAI.
