The cloud resale market has effectively vanished, according to the post: AWS shut down its Reserved Instances Marketplace in January 2024, and Google Cloud and Azure never had strong resale mechanisms.

The practical consequence for AI teams is that overbuying reserved capacity now leaves organizations with no easy exit. The post argues that training runs, fine-tuning, and inference are hard to forecast, so cloud buyers need tighter forecasting, smaller initial commitments, and contingency plans instead of relying on a resale market to absorb mistakes.
