Claude saves a four-point memory rule after a paper-reading math error

A Claude user shares a detailed post-mortem of a numerical reasoning mistake while reading a paper: the model anchored on a schematic figure instead of the arithmetic, then blamed the paper when its own computed numbers did not fit.
The follow-up screenshot shows a second interaction where the user asks Claude to save a concise instruction as memory. The saved rule says to label figures as stated / assumed / derived, distrust the interpretation if math contradicts a consistent source, and rebuild from the stated numbers rather than patching the model.
