Claude Code interactive picker wrongly blocks Fable 5 for Max users on setup tokens
A bug report against anthropics/claude-code says that Max accounts authenticated with claude setup-token are being told in the interactive model picker that Fable 5 requires usage credits.
The report argues this is a client-side gating bug because:
- The same account and token can use Fable 5 in headless -p mode.
- claude.ai says Fable 5 is included in the Max plan.
- The interactive picker appears to fail closed because the setup-token profile lacks a plan tier field (subscriptionType).
The issue includes a minimal reproduction and shows the exact message users see when trying to choose Fable 5 interactively.
