Embodied AI System Uses Electrical Muscle Stimulation to Guide Physical Tasks

Researchers built an embodied AI system that uses body pose, vision, and location to guide people through complex physical tasks in real time.
Instead of following fixed scripts, the system infers the task and coordinates the user’s muscles step by step via Electrical Muscle Stimulation: reaching with the biceps, gripping with the fingers, and lowering a bike rack with the triceps.
The work, presented as a Best Paper at CHI 2026, is positioned as an early step toward AI that does not just talk or see, but physically assists human action.
