OpenClaw says downloads kept rising despite a rough stability period
Hannes Rudolph of the OpenClaw Foundation says the project is not dead: npm downloads climbed from about 176,000/day across February and April to about 422,000/day across June and July 20.
He also acknowledges a difficult stretch from April to June, when broken updates hurt trust because users spent too much time recovering installs instead of using the product. The team still isn’t fully past the issue, as v2026.7.1 caused problems for some installs, though overall stability has improved after recovery.
