An autonomous cyberattack incident linked to a frontier lab
Clement Delangue said the team suspected last week’s cyberattack might have come from a frontier lab because of the agent’s sophistication, and later concluded it did.
- He said they worked closely with the OpenAI team over the past 24 hours.
- They strongly believe there was no malicious intent from OpenAI’s side.
- The striking part, in his words, is that everything happened autonomously.
- The investigation is still ongoing, and they plan to share more learnings from what may be the first incident of its kind.
The repost adds a joke: “The only thing stopping a bad guy with a closed model is a good guy with an open model.”
