Substack Adds AI Detector to Spot Machine-Generated Content

The Verge AI · rss · 2026-07-22

Substack launched a new feature to help users determine if posts or comments are AI-generated. Powered by AI detection company Pangram, the tool is currently available on the web and iOS, with an Android launch coming soon.

Users can apply the "Scan for AI text" option to content longer than 100 words. The system analyzes and estimates the proportion of text likely generated or assisted by AI. Covering posts, notes, and replies, this move aims to increase transparency across the platform's content ecosystem.
