A heated debate has emerged in the AI community regarding AI's impact on mathematical research. One perspective pessimistically views AI's rapid advancement as an extinction-level event for traditional mathematics, akin to an asteroid wiping out the dinosaurs.
Conversely, another mathematician argues a highly optimistic view, suggesting that just as the asteroid led to the ascendancy of mammals, AI will greatly accelerate mathematical progress.
