AI researchers are tired of living on the labs’ marketing schedule
evijit · x · 2026-07-21
The author says many people in AI are being forced to react to whatever the big labs’ marketing teams launch each day, instead of focusing on actual research and innovation.
The proposed remedy is broader than one company or one model:
- push for frontier American open-source models,
- treat AI as public infrastructure,
- and build sovereignty on top of an open-source stack rather than further concentrating power through anticompetitive behavior.
