Open-source PenEcho AI whiteboard now renders interactive animated explanations
Civil-Direction-6981 · reddit · 2026-07-21
PenEcho, an open-source AI whiteboard, can now return structured instructions that the canvas renders as interactive, animated content instead of static text or images.
- The project is designed for handwriting, equations, diagrams, and spatial context.
- The new response mode lets explanations unfold step by step beside the original canvas content.
- It runs locally with Codex CLI, Claude Code, or via an API.
- The repo is fully open source: github.com/penecho/penecho.
The author says the result feels closer to “thinking with AI visually.”
