Meta’s Anthropic compute deal is being framed as a bet on data centers that outlast the AI cycle

The post argues that Meta’s new Anthropic compute deal points to a broader hyperscaler strategy: instead of only betting on AI products, big cloud players are building data centers and compute capacity that can keep paying off even if the AI boom cools.

The accompanying chart estimates that data centers built since ChatGPT are already loaded by a mix of demand: 35% AI under a conservative estimate, or 44% AI under a more liberal one, with the rest still coming from non-AI workloads.
