A deleted PR from a NanoGPT speedrun still made it into later submissions: multiple participants had already seen the approach, and one PR was even cited by Opus 4.7 when Prime Intellect evaluated it.
The shared image is a footnote from the write-up explaining that the team closed the PR quickly, but the idea had already propagated through the competition and influenced several subsequent world-record submissions.
