GPT-5 (Sol) Reports Inconsistent Training Cutoff Dates Across Modes
dikrek · reddit · 2026-07-21
A user reported experiencing confusing inconsistencies in training cutoff dates when using GPT-5 (codename Sol).
Depending on the access point (Chat or Work) and the subscription tier used, the model reports cutoff dates ranging anywhere from August 2025 to December 2025, or even January 2026. When explicitly asked in Max mode, the model simply says it doesn't know. This inconsistency has raised concerns about the model's internal state and reliability.
