AI systems are turning data governance into flow governance
This post extends the same argument: organisations can no longer assume they are governing a static dataset. AI systems now pull live information, connect to other systems, remember past interactions, and operate on data that changes constantly.
The practical implication is that businesses and consumers both want more clarity about how data is used. Governance therefore has to move from box-ticking consent toward a more detailed understanding of data access, inference, downstream movement, and permitted actions.
