Yuan-Ting Lin Recalls Fighting for Kimi's Co-Founder Wu Yuxin as an Intern at Meta

Yuan-Ting Lin, former Meta FAIR Research Director and Recursive co-founder, recalled that Moonshot co-founder Wu Yuxin was his intern in 2015. To convince management to hire Wu, Lin argued on the Facebook rooftop for an hour, even putting his own reputation on the line.
Wu later joined FAIR, co-authored Group Normalization with Kaiming He, created Detectron2, and now works on Kimi's foundation models at Moonshot. Lin believes that in the LLM era, hands-on technical doers—founders included—who personally review data, write code, and iterate quickly are more essential than ever.
