Stratum: decentralized community fine-tuning for open Kimi weights

rsalakhu · x · 2026-07-21

A new project called Stratum aims to build a proof-of-work decentralized network for community fine-tuning of open Kimi weights.

The idea is to pool many small compute shards into something closer to a community-run training setup, where everyone can own checkpoints. The author says the motivation is that fine-tuning at scale still requires compute most people don't have on their own, and the project is also meant as an experiment.
