brandon_galang · x · 2026-07-21
The post recommends trying local speech-transcription options instead of Wispr Flow and says Apple has recently released a new speech engine that is both much more accurate and faster than anything the author has used.
The attached image shows a word error rate comparison: the new Apple engine scores 2.12% on clean speech and 4.56% on noisy speech, beating Whisper Small, Base, Tiny, and an older Apple engine by a wide margin. The author also mentions using it in an OSS app called Megaphone and liking the low latency.
