Why France and Europe Should Aim for the AI Frontier

The post argues against the usual double pessimism around AI in France and Europe: either they supposedly lack the money and capability to reach the frontier, or frontier AI will become a commodity so there is no point trying.
It says that response leads to passivity and strategic dependence. The author instead argues that France can, and therefore should, aim to be at the AI frontier, citing a detailed proposal called Operation Prométhée as one possible path forward.
