A quote card pushes back on Eric Schmidt’s prediction that AI-based “world-class mathematicians” will arrive within a year. It argues that this is fantasy, noting that in the real world AI has autonomously proved only one theorem of middling importance—the Robbins conjecture—in 1996, so a 27th-place result in an elite high school math contest does not change the picture.
The core point is that current math-competition performance should not be confused with genuine mathematical research capability.
