Kimi K3 is being pitched as a new open-weight frontier model
PeterDiamandis · x · 2026-07-20
Moonshot’s Kimi K3 is being framed as a major open-weight model milestone: reportedly 2.8T parameters and built to reach #1 across several work domains, including front-end coding, marketing, design, data analysis, consumer products, simulations, and content creation.
The post also claims the next-generation system is already designing its own chip and writing its own inference kernels, and argues that Chinese open models are becoming central to the global AI ecosystem. It closes with a note that a GPT-5-class model, Bonsai 27B, can reportedly run on a smartphone using just 6 GB of memory.
