While traditional computers face computational bottlenecks processing massive DNA sequencing data, quantum computing offers a promising alternative. Researchers have recently, for the first time, successfully encoded the complete small genome of the Hepatitis D virus (HDV) into a quantum computer.

This proof-of-concept demonstrates that quantum machines could soon assist in genomic research, helping scientists mine biological insights from DNA variations more efficiently.
