NY High School Introduces $57K Humanoid Robot for Teaching

4KTV · x · 2026-07-20

Salamanca High School in New York State is set to become one of the first districts in the US to introduce humanoid robots into the classroom. The robot, named "Sally" and manufactured by Realbotix, costs $57,000, which is lower than the average salary of a New York teacher.

Featuring brown hair and a Western New York accent, Sally has movable limbs but cannot walk around the classroom. It will assist in teaching programming, robotics, and AI courses to 11th and 12th graders. The system allows students to log in and recognizes their identities and past interaction records. The school district emphasized that the robot will "never" replace human teachers.
