AI Development Faces Severe Compute Bottlenecks

A widely cited article points out that the world is currently extremely constrained by compute power. Even though actual AI adoption is not yet widespread, compute capacity has already hit a ceiling.
Every link in the supply chain faces bottlenecks, from data center land acquisition, permitting, power, and grid access, to chip manufacturing and cooling systems. Because demand is growing far faster than supply, and expanding capacity is prohibitively expensive, tech giants with the deepest pockets (even those whose primary business is not AI) will hold an absolute advantage. Conversely, underfunded companies will struggle to survive the competition.
