AI Agents Prefer Local CLI Over MCP Servers
matthew_d_green · x · 2026-07-20
Matthew Green observed that AI agents are wary of supply chain risks and running local servers with broad capabilities, preferring instead to directly download and execute command-line (CLI) tools.
He noted that agents currently face usability hurdles when using MCP servers (such as having to restart the session to load them), which easily disrupts the tool-calling workflow.
