AI Agents Prefer Local CLI Over MCP Servers

Matthew Green observed that AI agents are wary of supply chain risks and running local servers with broad capabilities, preferring instead to directly download and execute command-line (CLI) tools.
He noted that agents currently face usability hurdles when using MCP servers (such as having to restart the session to load them), which easily disrupts the tool-calling workflow.
