Open-Source Tool for Organizing ComfyUI Model Libraries
No-Percentage6406 · reddit · 2026-07-19
To solve the common headache of messy ComfyUI model libraries, the author built a free tool called combuddy, positioning it as a "ComfyUI model librarian."
What it does
- Finds byte-level duplicate models and estimates reclaimable space
- Flags models not referenced by any workflow as cleanup candidates
- Reads file headers to identify model type/precision, then pulls real names, preview images, and trigger words from Civitai
- Generates a packaging report when exporting workflows, telling others which models are already owned, which have mismatched versions, and which are missing
How to use
The tool emphasizes local execution and safe cleanup: deletions only move files to a recoverable recycle bin rather than hard-deleting them. Civitai queries are optional and only send file hashes. The author also provides uvx combuddy demo to try it directly on sample data.
