At the WAIC2026 forum, ModelBest systematically presented its technological and industrial progress in on-device AI, predicting that **2026 will be the inaugural year for large-scale on-device AI deployment**. The report noted the shift from proof-of-concept to scaled applications, with ModelBest's open-source MiniCPM series surpassing **38 million cumulative downloads** and landing in smartphones, automobiles, embodied AI, and aerospace. Technologically, ModelBest released two key products: First, the **MiniCPM5-2B** on-device text model, which remains highly competitive in knowledge, math, coding, instruction following, and agentic capabilities despite its small parameter size. Second, a **VLA embodied model** designed for long-horizon robotic tasks and memory capabilities, showing strong performance on robotic context memory benchmarks. Regarding industrial application, ModelBest is collaborating with partners like Geely Auto, Leju Robotics, and Intel to showcase solutions for in-car systems, exhibition guides, inspections, and legal services. Some of these solutions support offline operation, private deployment, and local knowledge base Q&A. The company also launched an open-source ecosystem plan and an industry partner program to open up its foundation models and Agent platform capabilities to enterprise clients.
