Using Claude to Analyze Spotify History for Song Recs
Blueberryroid · reddit · 2026-07-19
The author shares their complete workflow for generating playlist recommendations using Claude based on 10 years of exported Spotify data.
They first had the model clean the exported JSON into a more LLM-friendly CSV/Markdown format, generating listening stats, preference summaries, and a visualization webpage. Then, they used Claude Code combined with free music APIs (for BPM, genre, key, etc.) to analyze the characteristics of frequently listened tracks, generating a 30-song playlist of unheard tracks they would likely enjoy. The author emphasizes having the model verify APIs first to avoid "hallucinated tracks," and the final results indeed uncovered many new favorites.
