Russ Salakhutdinov revealed that Yang Zhilin didn't fail to stay in the US, but actively chose to return to China to found a company. \n\nHe mentioned that Yang had multiple opportunities in the US at the time, including Apple executives asking about his interest in joining, and Apple even suggesting he could work out of the Beijing office. However, Yang wanted to start his own business and felt he would regret it for the rest of his life if he didn't try. Russ added that the US immigration process is inherently full of uncertainty, even for top PhD graduates.
