Rox has released its in-house web search agent, ask-web.
It achieves 91.3% accuracy on real production prompts at a cost of roughly 1.03 cents per query. It has been running in production for 6 months with continuous evals. The author also provided comparisons with several commercial search agents and frontier lab solutions:
- Commercial search providers: Perplexity, Exa, Parallel
- Frontier labs: OpenAI, Anthropic
- Infrastructure partners: Together, Baseten, Modal
In conclusion, Exa, OpenAI, and Anthropic lean more towards accuracy, while Parallel and Perplexity prioritize cost efficiency.
