An easily overlooked bottleneck in the AI hardware supply chain is the tungsten carbide drill bits used to bore holes in server circuit boards.
As AI server circuit boards adopt harder materials with more layers, drill bits wear out faster and consumption is surging. Currently, only two companies globally—Topoint and Japan's Union Tool—can manufacture drill bits that meet the precision requirements for AI.
