Store & Forget: A Home Inventory App Powered by Vision AI
RomeoDelta1234 · reddit · 2026-07-19
The author built a home inventory app called Store & Forget using current multimodal vision models.
The core experience: users snap a photo of an item, and the model converts it into a structured record, automatically filling in the name, brand, specs, category, and storage location. Searching later relies on remembered usage or impressions rather than exact original descriptions.
The author believes such models have evolved from simple "image captioning" to reliable "inventory extraction," solving a problem where previous inventory apps failed. Current limitations include stable single-object recognition but a need for manual review with multiple objects, and an inability to see inside sealed containers. All fields are editable. Currently, an Android version is available.
