AI Labs' True Goal: Triggering a Safe Singularity Early

AI practitioners have conveyed a core message to policymakers on both sides of the Pacific: AI labs generally and sincerely believe in triggering a technological singularity as soon as possible, provided that safety alignment is solved. They point out that if anyone is terrified of transferring power to AI within 15-20 years, then there is a fundamental disagreement in goals. For these labs, building safe AGI and triggering the singularity is the absolute highest priority.
